Battling a precocious cold, I have been worshiping the grapefruit gods this week. As a kid, I abhorred grapefruit - the challenging way one had to eat it (too many utensils!) and the tart taste that made me purse my lips and scrunch my face in such a contorted manner that my mom warned me could freeze that way. But I don't like grapefruits, Mom! In fact, I wasn't a huge fan of anything citrus-y as a child (mostly due to tartness and texture), but now, I LOVE CITRUS! I buy grapefruits in bulk, for, as my friend Emily says, they are nature's candy. I can feel the health restoring to my body when I consume the luscious meats and juices of a perfectly pink grapefruit. For me, this fruit has become a psychological tool for healthy living. A catalyst for positive thinking. Okay, maybe that's a bit much, but I have enjoyed grapefruits as of late and I can feel myself improving in health as the week progresses. I want to see a banner that reads, "A Grapefruit a day, keeps the doctor away!"

ReplyDeleteIsn't it funny how our taste buds change like that when we grow up?
ReplyDelete{Love citrus too!}
Dude, I worship grapefruit also. Worship. It. I really love a glass a fresh squeeze as well. Feel better!
