Bangles

A few weeks ago, a parcel arrived in the mail from my lovely mother. Inside I found some articles of clothing left during my Maine visit and also a smaller package containing 18 colorful plastic bangles. A little note from my mom told me that the bangles were made from old flip flops by a community of African women.

I love these bangles - how their number decorates my wrist and lower arm with bright colors and a lightweight feel. I love that they are made from recycled flip flops and hopefully helping women support themselves. I feel powerful wearing these bangles somehow - perhaps because of the fashion statement but perhaps even more because I think of the clever and talented women who made them.

  1. These are so cool! I just love filling my arm up with bangles - an arm party! What a sweet mom! Hope you had a wonderful, long weekend! Your cameo is on its way as I type this, by the way! XOXO
